抄録: In the global business setting, English language skills are one of the core competencies needed by the employers. In Thailand, there are many companies where English is used as the main language internally, among non-Thai and Thai employees. This research examines the Bangkok branch company of a leading technology-based firm in Asia to investigate the role of English language used by Thai employees. Leadership, conflict management, and the relationship between the team leaders and their subordinates from the leader-member exchange(LMX) perspective are also discussed. It was found that the employees' English proficiency is essential and necessary for working in a company with an international background. However, the requirements for the employees' English proficiency is varied from department to depertment depending on the nature of the job. The English proficiency problem of the employees did not directly affect the LMX of the team studied. The level of LMX in all team studied was high, therefore resulting in fewer conflicts at work. As for leadership, the leaders' self-perception of his or her leadership style can be different from their subordinates' expectation for an ideal leadership.
